Why We Built This Reference
The old Key West directory shelf is only one part of today's search trail. Monroe County offices hold parcel, deed, and court records; Florida election law controls voter access; and the History Center and State Library keep historical volumes. Finding a present owner or tracing an earlier household can mean moving among several custodians. We bring the official tools, office details, known coverage dates, and access limits into a Key West reference that makes those handoffs clear.
What the Reference Contains
- Pages by angle: the street directory (address-keyed records), the city directory (the historical shelf), and the resident lookup (one-person searches)
- The rolls and offices: assessor, recorder, elections office, court clerk, vital records, the library's local history collection
- Walkthroughs: how to trace who lives on a street, how to read a directory entry, how to follow a household across the decades
- Access rules: what Florida law opens, what stays closed, and how a records request works when something is not online
What Remains Outside Our Role
We are a privately operated reference, not part of Key West, Monroe County, Florida, any court, or any library. That creates firm limits:
- We cannot confirm whether a specific person currently lives in Key West
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
- We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
- We cannot guarantee that each link, office fact, or coverage date remains current
Only the custodian office can confirm, certify, or correct a record. Nothing found through this site may be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
