Key West ZIP Directory Coverage
Three postal numbers appear in the researched Key West records, but they do not perform the same job. The standard delivery focus is 33040. It serves incorporated Key West and nearby places that may use Key West as the postal city, including Stock Island and Key Haven contexts. Two other numbers appear in box or service use. They should never be converted into residential neighborhoods without a specific USPS verification.
| ZIP | Area or use | Post office context | Search caution |
|---|---|---|---|
| 33040 | Key West street delivery and nearby postal Key West areas | Key West Main, Flagler Key West, NAS Unit 2 | Postal city does not prove city limits |
| 33041 | Key West and Stock Island post office boxes | Local box or service use | Do not assign to a street household |
| 33045 | Key West post office box or service use | Exact station not verified | Confirm with USPS before making a detailed claim |
The Key West Main Post Office is at 400 Whitehead Street, Flagler Key West is at 2764 North Roosevelt Boulevard, and NAS Unit 2 is at 4069 Langley Avenue. All three appeared under 33040 in the USPS operational notice. A station's address still does not define the polygon of every delivery route.
Key West Delivery and Box ZIPs
A standard delivery ZIP sorts mail sent to deliverable street addresses. A post office box ZIP sorts mail held for pickup or another box service. That difference changes what a number can prove. A 33041 or 33045 mailing line may be an owner's notice destination, business contact, or box, not the physical site of a home. The Property Appraiser and city records can therefore show a box ZIP beside a separate situs.
Use the USPS ZIP Code Lookup for a specific street address or city-and-state search. The capture attempt for this project was blocked by USPS, so no USPS screenshot is presented and no unverified form labels are claimed. The official lookup remains the authority for a current deliverable address.
Postal check. Confirm the complete street line with USPS before using a ZIP code directory result as the key to another public database.
Why Key West 33040 Crosses Lines
The largest local mismatch is Stock Island. A database can display “Key West, FL 33040” while the parcel is in unincorporated Monroe County. Key Haven can create the same kind of postal-city confusion. That affects which government assigns an address, holds a permit, or handles a local request. Incorporated Key West uses city offices. Unincorporated land goes to Monroe County Growth Management.
USPS transferred local address-assignment responsibility in April 2006. Monroe County now assigns only addresses in its unincorporated jurisdiction; the City handles incorporated Key West. The county request form asks for name, email, subdivision, street, real estate number, block, lot, current mailing address, phone, and reCAPTCHA. Requests may also go by mail to 2798 Overseas Highway, Suite 400, Marathon, or by fax to 305-289-2536.
No official comprehensive ZIP split, realignment year, or citywide street-renumbering project was verified. Do not invent one to reconcile an old address. Use parcel legal descriptions, lots, blocks, plats, and historical maps instead.
Find Key West Residents by ZIP
Only use a source whose documented fields include ZIP. Florida's monthly voter extract includes residence ZIP. FDLE's registry offers ZIP and neighborhood geography. Sunbiz permits ZIP and street queries, and DBPR can filter licenses by city or county. A qPublic or eTRAKiT ZIP-wide control was not verified, so those systems should not be described as ZIP list tools.
- Verify the full address and delivery ZIP with USPS. Treat a box number as mail routing, not a home area.
- Choose a source that documents a ZIP field. For voter research, use a lawful public extract rather than the identity-gated self-lookup.
- Filter by the exact ZIP while preserving leading zeros in downloaded data. Narrow by city, county, precinct, status, or name when the tool supports it.
- Check the parcel or municipal map to decide whether the address lies in incorporated Key West or unincorporated Monroe.
- Move to the Key West directory by street only when address-level work is needed.
A ZIP search can create a candidate set, not a full household roster. Nonvoters, protected people, children, and anyone outside the selected database will not appear.
Filter Key West Voters by ZIP
The official Florida status and polling lookup is meant for a voter checking that person's own registration. It is not an anonymous block browser. For lawful public analysis, the Division of Elections monthly extract is the appropriate channel. The file includes active and inactive records through the prior month's end and contains residence address components, ZIP, precinct or district data, registration status and date, party, public contact fields when present, and election participation history.
Protected classes, preregistered teenagers, and Address Confidentiality Program participants are excluded. Voting history shows only which elections a registrant participated in, never ballot choices. A new or updated record may take one or two business days, and longer around book closing. An inactive flag can follow list-maintenance confirmation and does not prove that someone moved.
The Florida public voter information page is captured below.

The state explanation helps separate generally public fields from protected identifiers and exempt records before any 33040 filter is applied.
Use Key West Registry ZIP Search
The FDLE registry accepts first or last name, city, county, ZIP, status, or type. At least one of name, city, county, or ZIP is required, and partial names can work. Neighborhood search can use an address, city, ZIP, and radius. A blank name combined with geography returns a geographic registry list. Results may show a photo, aliases, designation, status, reported address and source date, offenses, and vehicles.
This is a specialized statutory registry, not a directory of all people who live in a ZIP. FDLE compiles information supplied to it and warns that it does not independently verify every fact. Fingerprint comparison is required for positive identity. The FDLE neighborhood and ZIP search appears below.

Use its geography only for the registry's stated safety purpose, and never generalize results to people outside that system.
Search Key West Business ZIP Records
Sunbiz offers searches by entity name, officer or registered agent, FEI or EIN, document number, ZIP, street address, and fictitious name. A detail page can supply principal and mailing addresses, agent, officers or managers, titles, status, annual reports, and document images. Filing year matters because an old officer or address may no longer be current. A registered agent is a legal-contact role, not proof of ownership or residence.
The Sunbiz entity search captured for the Key West ZIP code directory appears below.

Repeat a weak business-name query by officer or agent, street, and ZIP rather than assuming no filing exists.
Florida DBPR adds credential context for local lodging, food service, alcoholic beverage, real estate, construction, cosmetology, and other regulated work. Its search supports name, license category or type, city, county, state, historic licenses, and result size.

Filtering by Key West or Monroe can test postal wording, but a professional or business address still does not establish a home.
Key West ZIPs Versus City Limits
A ZIP is a mail-routing device. It is not a municipal boundary, parcel identifier, voting precinct, neighborhood, or proof of occupancy. Key West's compact island form makes that distinction easy to overlook. Old Town, Bahama Village, Caroline Street Corridor, transient and non-transient areas, and other mapped districts are city planning or historical geographies, not separate postal zones. The 33040 line alone cannot assign an address to one of them.
Parcel ID and legal description are better jurisdiction keys. A common local parcel identifier has eight digits, a hyphen, and six digits. Legal text may supply subdivision, lot, block, plat, section-township-range, metes and bounds, or official-record book and page. Those details remain useful when the street text or mailing ZIP changes.
- ZIP and ZIP+4
- The five-digit route area and an added four digits that narrow delivery to a smaller segment.
- PO-box ZIP
- A number used for mail held at a postal facility, not proof of street delivery.
- Unique ZIP
- A number assigned to one high-volume organization; none was verified here as a Key West residential area.
- Carrier route
- The path used to deliver mail, which can cross labels people treat as neighborhoods.
- Situs address
- The physical parcel location, separate from an owner's mailing address.
When the postal city and government boundary disagree, confirm the parcel in GIS before sending a request. That last check routes city permits to Key West and unincorporated address questions to Monroe County.
